Frat Mustard to Features

thamjiaknfratFrat: When did you start blogging about food?
thamjiak: I started food blogging on 27 October 2005 to be exact. Time flies!

Frat: What inspired the idea of food blogging?
thamjiak: It was during my internship that I stumble upon the food blogosphere and I got so hooked on it, I spent days giving excuses that I want to stay in during lunch time, just so that I could surf food blogs to my heart’s content. I was especially drawn towards connecting with people who loves food, and importantly love to cook and bake for loved ones. So after months of drooling over the keyboard, I just had to join the bandwagon!

Frat: If you are REALLY “tham jiak”, what do you do… to maintain a healthy size?
thamjiak: This is a question that this ‘tham jiak’ get from time to time, well in order to be able to remain who I am, I learn to be a little bit more picky, meaning allowing myself to enjoy copious amount of what I really like (the taste oh-so-goods) but be extra vigilant in eating just for the sake of it or mindlessly, and of course the boring part – workout! There you have it, no secret, just a plain critic with hard work thrown in.

Frat: How would you improve the Malaysian culinary landscape?
thamjiak: I would say we need more creative people to come up with new tastes that are unique to Malaysian (since when did we have a new Malaysian dish? mmmm), yet I am also all for defending the traditional cuisines which has lasted for generations, cause it simply meant it was perfect!

Frat: You’ve booked a couple of times through theQguides.com, tell us about your experience.
thamjiak: So far I am happy about it, response and confirmation was fast, and the people at the restaurant recognized it immediately when I arrived. I also thoroughly enjoy the hassle-free from calling and trying to communicate through static and language barriers :)

Frat: Lastly, would you go out with a guy who is shorter than you? Like 5 feet shorter?
thamjiak: Mmm, interesting question, love to think more about it but I already know the answer straight – NO! I am not that tall and if 5 feet shorter I cannot imagine the size of this one…..but if you meant a cute little guy (think boy version thumbelina) who thoroughly enjoys food and knows the best places in town and brings me to enjoy them for FREE, I am willing to reconsider ;)

Thanks thamjiak! Hope to see you again soon.

Psssst readers… I think she means to say “yes”… I enjoy food and I DO KNOW the best places in town :P w00tz!
