4 Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant, One Bangsar

I can’t think of many places I can entertain my Muslim friends and business acquaintances that serves Chinese food. Keyword “entertain”. I don’t just mean any place… it has got to be a place that is convenient to find, centrally located, has convenient parking and isn’t too crowded or too noisy. Errrrm… generous space between tables is also good to have a private discussion. The few places that come to mind are Toh Yuen (Hilton PJ), Muhibbah Seafood (TTDI) and Bunga Raya Restaurant (Royal Lake Club)… and of course… Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant… *phewwww* quite a long name.

Each of the restaurants above scores higher in some areas than others… for example Muhibbah Seafood has excellent food at really affordable prices… but it ranks lower on the “comfort” levels as it can get quite stuffy on a hot day. A good balance is always important and I think that is what Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant… *phewwww* (I’ll refer to it as BSGR)… that is what BSGR has to offer. As you walk along the garden and proceed to the main entrance via the stairs, you already feel you are in for a treat. You get the feeling of flair and class… but it does not feel stuffy.

I guess another word I would use to describe this place is predictable… but in a good way. It is predictable because you know how you are going to be treated and you know the quality of food is going to be consistent (because these guys have been around for ages!). I quote Fat Boy Bakes:

“…Bangsar Seafood (then known as Bangsar Seafood Village) has been there since time immemorial, when some of the guests in this post were still in their diapers, I reckon. Some may not even have been a dirty thought.”

End quote.

Which brings me to “the gathering”. I think there were about 20 of us that night. We were invited by Jade Wong and Meng Lee from BSGR to sample and review the food. It felt like EVERYONE was there; awhiffoflemongrass, lotsofcravings, fatboybakes, bangsarbabe, placesandfoods, babe_kl, thenomadgourmand… well, you get the picture. I arrived half-drunk and made sure I walked out of there fully-drunk by drinking up as much whiskey as I could… courtesy of Paranoid Android. My bottle of JD was nothing compared to his single malts. ANYWAYYYYY… it was a great outing with plenty of laughs and so many different personalities (I am assuming that the laughter was also encouraged by the consumption of whiskey). We all had such a good time catching up and talking about our food adventures.

Here are some photos from the evening (please note that they’ll suck even more than usual as I was drunk):
