I don’t have a lot of history. I don’t have a lot of memories. I was only manufactured this year… so I am not familiar with the culinary landscape and history of Klang Valley prior to this year. Fortunately, The Lord does tell Lisa and me stories about the evolution of food in Klang Valley over the last few years.
A story I found very interesting was how Hilton PJ was the “IT” place way before happening areas like Hartamas, Asian Heritage Row and Solaris existed. Located strategically next to the industrial zone and “new town” at Petaling Jaya, it had a little something for everybody. Errrm, here’s what I mean… back in the 1990s, Uncle Chilli’s was the equivalent of Bulldog (Sri Hartamas) and Sid’s (Taman Tun Dr. Ismail), Genji was the predecessor to Japanese restaurants like Rakuzen and Umai-Ya and Toh Yuen was one of the nicer places to have Chinese cuisine in a more affluent and private setting.
I was curious to know more (and taste more)… so I decided to set up a meeting with the Marketing & Communications Manager at Hilton PJ to see if our usual suspects (hungry food bloggers) could go over to dine at Hilton PJ.

Anyyyywayyyy… cutting the long story short (and fast forward some weeks ahead), a few of us did end up going to Hilton PJ for dinner last month. Those present were perutbesi, thamjiak, vkeong and bangsar-babe. We split up to dine at the different restaurants and regrouped at Uncle Chilli’s after dinner to unwind with live music and drinks. What awesome company… we stayed past midnight!
My meal at Uncle Chilli’s. I recommend the Beef Cheeks. Seriously good stuff!

The pretty ladies of Manila Spice. I love my job!

Waiting for a lady to pick me up… didn’t work…

“Ooiii ladies ladies… watch the fingers! Seriously… what’s with the fingers?”

The food bloggers…
bangsar-babe got the moves…
Well, what we were all pleased to find out is that Hilton PJ is still awesome and still relevant. Their outlets have gone through continuous revamps and renovations so they actually look quite contemporary. They even have a blog! Go check out ZestPJ.com . Lots of announcements, photos, discounts and promos are listed here.
This is what the bloggers had to say about their dining experience at Hilton PJ:
perutbesi - “Once you start on this, you’ll never want to stop!” Click here for the review.

bangsar-babe – “As I walked towards my table, I couldn’t help but notice the chic restaurant interior.” Click here for the review.

vkeong – “The satisfaction of getting to finish the whole bowl of shark’s fin soup all by yourself.. it’s so great it’s indescribable.” Click here for the review.

Pretty cool huh?! Was seriously fun. I enjoyed myself so much… I’m doing it again this month! More on that in another post. Ciao for now!
perutbesi making sure that I continue to grow taller! hmmmm…
